Lesbian Pregnancy

Every woman being born on earth wants to experience the motherhood, whatever kind of relationship she is into. In modern days many countries are legalizing and have legalized the kind of relationship that was considered illegal and unhealthy i.e. lesbianism. Lesbian relations and gay marriages are as common as straight relationships and marriages in the modern epoch. But though they are lesbians that do not mean they do not want to be mothers and give birth to the child. These women do not want to get into relationships with men but like to be pregnant and experience the motherhood. For lesbian to get pregnant science has helped them with artificial insemination.

Artificial insemination

Artificial insemination is the process in which the sperm is inserted artificially into the woman’s uterus attempting to create pregnancy. Many lesbians interested in being mothers are using this method and are conceiving. They undergo normal pregnancy procedures. Artificial insemination has been the only popular method of lesbians becoming pregnant. For this purpose there are many sperm banks from where they can get the sperm for insemination artificially or from a known sperm donor. Sperm banks are secure for going for sperm, as the sperm banks will have waived the parental rights of the donor. There is no risk of donor seeking the custody of the child which may not happen in the case of a known donor and may lead to complications later for being the custodian.

But some sperm banks have the facility of permitting the child to access the donor father once the child is adult. Sperm taken from the sperm banks are tested for diseases and are disease free. They will have the genetic information of the donor, thus a best suited sperm can be chosen on your choice. But sperm banks are not cheap and can go expensive. Most of the insurance packages do not cover the cost. Lesbian mother has to keep in mind before taking a step of being mother the pros and cons of the artificial insemination. Many a times it takes long time to get pregnant and some times may fail as the sperm in the sperm bank is kept frozen, it takes long time for it to be active and be vigorous to meet the egg.

Pros and cons of using known donor

Pros are many as you know the person his family, history, personality, character, mental and physical health. He can remain a bet friend and involve in the life of the child which is a kind of security. Payment cost of the sperm if taken in sperm bank is saved and only will have to bear the cost of the doctor inseminating. Cons can be that he may turn violent and start coming for the custody of the child destroying your dream of you and child. There can be risk of many unseen diseases like the STD (Sexually transmitted diseases). If you are a lesbian and want to become pregnant and enjoy the biological process a woman should undergo then it is a wise plan. You should be ready mentally to face the ill faced society that is ready to prick you.
