Parenting Time

Who doesn’t want to live with their parents? Who doesn’t want to spend some quality time with their parents? Who doesn’t want to have any relation with their parents? The answer to this is nobody. Almost everyone wants to be with both of their parents that is the mother and the father. And this phenomenon of child to spend time with the parents is called as parenting time. But in this the child does not have a sole legal custody that is the parents are divorced or are no more together due to some problems.

It's importance

Parenting time is extremely important. It is the right of every child to spend time good time with its parents so that they can know each other better. This is not a problem when the parents are together but when this is not the case the child is not given the opportunity of spending time with its parents. Therefore to handle this problem the concept of parenting time came into existence.

Rights to the parents regarding parenting time

It is declared by the law that the child should have enough opportunities to meet his or her parents and spend some quality time with them. This parenting time can be ignored or rejected if the child is not comfortable in meeting with either of his or her parents.

Who decides the parenting time?

If the parents decide amongst themselves the period or length of parenting time then it will be good for both of them. But if they cannot decide so then they can approach the court of law for suggesting a reasonable parenting time. The court depending upon the situation and the nature and current position of the parents will decide how much time the child will spend with his mother and his father. But if any problem arises like if either of the parents does not follow the norms of the court of law than the court has the full authority and power to take action against the respective parent.

It is not only the parents that can have this right of parenting time but also the child’s grand and great grand parents can go for this. Even the person to whom the child considers as parents can have this right of parenting time. But this has to be appealed to the court by the respective persons and it should be according to the will and desire of the child.

Parenting time which is supervised

Many times for the betterment and growth of the child, the court keeps an agency or a person to keep a check on the parents as whether they are following the parenting time properly or not. If not than the person who is hired by the court talks to the court of law regarding this problem and the court looks after the further matter. Thus this is called as supervised parenting time.

Conclusion

Thus you may understand from this as what is parenting time and the various aspects relating to it.
